Come and join the Tippett Quartet for a wonderful season finale exploring the Golden Age of cinema past and present.
They bring their unique recording experience and expertise to celebrate the incredible genius of Bernard Herrmann, who died 50 years ago this month, with his Clarinet Quintet and their bespoke arrangement of the infamous “Psycho” film score alongside the iconic sounds of Korngold, Rózsa and Jerome Kern. It promises to tell a story of sound, colour, lush harmonies and striking melodies. They will also feature a brand new arrangement of Gershwin’s Three Preludes by Callum Au and being the featured quartet in the Knives Out films, they will perform these pieces for the first time in concert bringing us right up to date!
The quartet will be joined by star clarinetist Robert Plane. A Gramophone Award winner and passionate advocate for British clarinet music, Robert has enjoyed a distinguished solo, chamber and orchestral career, performing worldwide, premiering major new works and serving as Head of Woodwind Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
