Robert will make the world premiere recordings of concertos by Iain Hamilton, Ruth Gipps, Richard Walthew and an orchestration of John Ireland’s Fantasy Sonata for clarinet and strings with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. This has been made possible by awards from Creative Scotland, RVW Trust, John Ireland Trust and RWCMD and will be released by Champs Hill Records.
Huw Watkins is composing a new work for Rob and the Gould Piano Trio, co-commissioned by Corbridge Chamber Music Festival, Swansea Festival, Three Choirs Festival and the Wigmore Hall, with further funds from the PRS Foundation and RVW Trust. This will be premiered on July 31st 2018 at the Three Choirs Festival, with further performances at Church Stretton Festival, Linlithgow Concert Guild, Music at Cratfield, and Bromsgrove Concert Society.
Rob’s disc of Hungarian works was released by Champs Hill Records in September 2017. Including Bartok Contrasts, Dohnanyi Sextet and the world premiere recording of ‘Chamber Folk Music’ by Tibor Serly, he is joined by members of the Gould Piano Trio, horn player Alec Frank-Gemmill and viola player David Adams.
Composer Mark Boden is composing a clarinet concerto for Rob, to be premiered in March 2018 with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in BBC Hoddinott Hall, Cardiff Bay.
